Abby Wambach admitted to police that she has tried using marijuana and cocaine.
A few days after Abby Wambach was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, Wambach is once again in the news. Just like last time, it’s not for being extremely good at soccer, but rather for her off the field behavior.
According to court papers, Wambach has admitted to police that she tried recreational drug use, using marijuana and cocaine at various times during her life. She also admitted to drinking “weekly”.
From Democrat and Chronicle:
"After her arrest, Wambach allegedly told police she “first used marijuana by the age of 24,” according to the Multnomah County Motion for Release document. And that the last use of marijuana was at age 25. The document also stated, “The defendant tried cocaine at age 25.” It also states that she has “no prior use of heroin or meth. No prior addiction to prescription medication.” Wambach admits to drinking alcohol weekly."

Wambach might be a role model to countless female athletes for being so dominant at her sport on the field and a supporter of equal rights for all athletes off the field, but it is important to remember that she is human just like everyone else.
She is far from perfect, just like everyone else. Wambach is one of the greatest athletes to ever play the game of soccer, but more importantly, she’s a great human.
Hopefully, Wambach can get her life together and get the help that she needs so she can keep on inspiring people. Wambach is the United States women’s team all-time leading scorer with 184 goals.
She also holds the world record for international goals scored by any player. Wambach is heavily involved in charities and organizations that work with equal rights, juvenile diabetes, and epilepsy.
