3. Bryson DeChambeau

Bryson DeChambeau is the only amateur that appears on this list, but the American is virtually unlike any amateur that we’ve ever seen play at The Masters before. The He won the NCAA Championship and the US Amateur titles last year, joining the elite company of Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Ryan Moore in the process—maybe you’ve heard of those guys before. Moreover, his amateur status is largely just a formality at this point as he’s only really kept it so he could still et the exemption from the US Amateur to play in The Masters.

DeChambeau has been playing in various pro events around the world over the past year and players and pundits from all over have raved about the youngster. He’s unlike almost any player on the tour in many ways, most notably in that he’s a physics major that helps design his own clubs to the way that he feels best suits him on the golf course according to science.

Obviously any amateur is a long shot at Augusta for The Masters, but if you were ever going to get behind one to do so, DeChambeau would be the guy as he’s a player that blows every other amateur out of the water.
