The Philadelphia 76ers reportedly did not plan on firing general manager Sam Hinkie.

After Philadelphia 76ers general manager Sam Hinkie resigned from his position, the reasoning for his resignation has started to come out. He has reportedly resigned because he was uncomfortable with his role. The 76ers reportedly did not know that he was uncomfortable with his role.

One of the reported reasons for Hinkie’s departure is that he was uncomfortable with the hiring of Jerry Colangelo back in December. He ended his tenure by writing a letter to the ownership group.

From ESPN:

"“… Given all the changes to our organization, I no longer have the confidence that I can make good decisions on behalf of investors in the Sixers — you. So I should step down. And I have.”"

How this will affect the future of the 76ers will be seen. However, it is safe to say that the 76ers are ready to be a bit more aggressive with their improvement, especially since they are reportedly involved in negotiations to add Jerry’s son Brian into the equation. Brian and Jerry are well known for being aggressive and improving teams with a combined six Executive of the Year awards between them. More changes could be coming soon for the 76ers.
