Doug McDermott tackles Hassan Whiteside (Video)
Chicago Bulls forward Doug McDermott decided to tackle Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside during the game.
In the NBA, players often don’t like giving up free points. They especially don’t like giving up free points to centers that will most likely miss their free throws and choose to hack them and send them to line instead. On Thursday night, Chicago Bulls forward Doug McDermott decided to try his hand at a new way of sending a center to the line.
As Hassan Whiteside got the ball down low, McDermott didn’t want him getting any free points and decided the best way of sending him to the line was by sacking him to the ground with a vicious tackle.
McDermott would be assessed a flagrant foul while everyone wondered exactly what exactly he was thinking on the play. Whiteside is a big guy and much bigger than McDermott, so tackling him might not be the best option.
It’s clear that he probably didn’t intend for the foul to end up the way that it did, but alas it did and he paid the price for it. There’s no tackling in the NBA.
