LaMarcus Aldridge may have suffered a nasty injury during Thursday’s showdown with the Golden State Warriors.

The marquee NBA game on Thursday night is taking place between the San Antonio Spurs and the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena. If the Warriors lose, they will be at 10 losses for the season, meaning they would only tie the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls for the greatest regular season record in NBA history. Spurs coach Greg Popovich may have started all of this players for that reason to try to spoil the pursuit.

Unfortunately for San Antonio, they may have suffered a nasty looking injury to one of their top players.

During the first quarter, forward LaMarcus Aldridge went for a contested layup. As Warriors center Andrew Bogut went to block the shot, his hand hit one of Aldridge’s fingers and bent it on the backboard, possibly dislocating it.

Not a pretty visual to say the least.

Aldridge would immediately go to the bench to get the finger looked at and wrapped up. There’s no word on if this will keep him out for the rest of the game, but given Popovich’s tendency to rest his top players, especially at this point of the season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the star forward kept on the bench. This is despite saying during the game that Aldridge “could” return on Thursday night.

If the injury is worse than it looked, then LaMarcus Aldridge could be limited heading into the postseason, which is a worst-case scenario for the Spurs. They may not need him early on in the playoffs, but he’ll be crucial for them to get to the NBA Finals.
