Mike Tyson congratulates Cincinnati (not UConn) on title
By Brandon Ogle
As the Connecticut Huskies were adding a fourth straight title to their name, Mike Tyson accidentally congratulated the wrong team.
Perhaps no team since John Wooden’s UCLA Bruins has achieved the sustained success of Geno Auriemma’s Connecticut Huskies. Led by soon to be top WNBA draft picks Breanna Stewart, Moriah Jefferson, and Morgan Tuck, the Huskies rarely faced much of an opposition this season, capping it off with a 82-51 victory over Syracuse in the Championship. The incredible trio went 115-5 over their four seasons together and an even more staggering 116-1 in the last three seasons.
So, with this said, they’ve easily made a name for themselves among all sports fans. Even the casual college basketball fan is most likely aware of the dominance displayed by the Huskies.
One guy that happened to make a mistake after their fourth straight NCAA championship is the great Mike Tyson. Everyone loves Iron Mike, but this innocent mistake got a chuckle out of plenty of fans.
The tweet, which has now been deleted, congratulated the Cincinnati Bearcats on a fourth straight championship. Unfortunately, the Bearcats have a long ways to go to build a program on the same level as UConn. According to Bleacher Report, Cincinnati has amassed a 41-81 record over the last four years. A little ways off from UConn’s 115-5.
It was a simple mistake from the boxing legend and Hangover star, but one that was definitely comical as we recognize the all-time great legacy of the Connecticut Huskies!
