10. Jimmy Walker Likely Won’t Be Winning

On Wednesday at the famed and always fun Par 3 Contest at Augusta National, Jimmy Walker reigned supreme atop the field after a historical overall showing from everyone involved. The nine holes in one were a record for the contest and Walker was able to come out on top when everything subsided.

Unfortunately for Walker, this means that there’s almost no chance that he’s going to be putting on the Green Jacket on Sunday evening at Augusta.

Of the many interesting facts about The Masters over the years of the prestigious tournament is the fact that the winner of the Par 3 Contest before the start of the actual tourney has never won the Green Jacket at Augusta in the same year. Sure, 11 previous winners of the Par 3 Contest have won The Masters in other years, but it’s important for Walker’s chances given his win on Wednesday in relations to his chances this weekend.

Though there are many players at Augusta this week that could make an impact and despite the fact that Walker has shown flashes of being able to contend thus far in 2016 at The Masters, that he came out and won the Par 3 Contest on Wednesday doesn’t bode well for him. If you’re hitching your wagon to one player, history says make sure it isn’t to Walker.
