We all know the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals do not like each other on the field, and now in the off-season their beef took to Twitter.
The Steelers and Bengals have had an ongoing rivalry for years. The teams have had a back and forth slug fest of a rivalry ever since Carson Palmer was knocked out of a 2005 playoff game against the Steelers.
In 2015, linebacker Vontaze Burfict ended Le’Veon Bell’s season in Week 8. Then in week 14, it was the Steelers who struck back by knocking quarterback Andy Dalton out of the game and eventually out for the season while trying to tackle defensive lineman Stephon Tuitt after an interception.
This all led up to a playoff game that we will not soon forget with Burfict and Adam Jones costing their team with costly personal foul penalties, and eventually led to commissioner Roger Goodell planning to begin a new rule that will give officials the ability to eject a player from a game due to too many personal fouls.
All of this bad blood behind them, and it is Burfict, who has been the ring leader for most of this nonsense apparently being offended by a comment that Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams made while visiting ESPN yesterday.
Essentially, Williams said that if the Steelers had a healthy Antonio Brown (who was injured by Burfict) the Steelers would have given the Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos a much tougher test in the next round.
Ohh my bad @L_Bell26 is way better than you @DeAngeloRB why am I talking shit to a back up let me stop ❌❌

You right I am backing the best back in the league u are talented but your inability to control yourself hold u back https://t.co/NbGbygGRDN

Burfict told Williams that he has no right to even mention that scenario because Williams himself was hurt for that game. He also enjoyed knowing that the Steelers were still thinking about the what if of having a healthy Brown and that they probably blame him for that.
Williams responded by thanking Burfict for costing his team the playoff game against the Steelers. Burfict countered reminding Williams that he will have to tackle him at some point next year and that Bell was a better player than him anyways.
Williams ended this round by saying that Burfict will have to wait until the suspension he received due to his actions in their last playoff game is over.
Burfict was suspended three games for his hit on Antonio Brown, and apparently as he is taking to twitter with threats to Browns’ teammate he may not have learned his lesson.
Either way, you tend to doubt that the NFL cares about player safety when we have a beef this good, and you could bet money that the first game that Burfict will be playing in next year will be against the Steelers on some sort of primetime stage. Get the popcorn ready folks.
