In a stunning move, Jets left tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson has announced his retirement after 10 seasons.
The New York Jets were optimistic entering this off-season that they could improve their team. One of the reasons for that was that their offensive line was led by D’Brickashaw Ferguson. New York will have to alter their off-season plans now because Ferguson has reportedly announced his retirement from the NFL.

Ferguson is a 10-year veteran. He has no health concerns that fans have been made aware of, which makes his retirement quite puzzling. Ferguson was famous for being durable, playing in every regular season game for the Jets from 2006 to 2015. If Ferguson is retiring, this is another example of an athlete who shocked everyone by retiring early.
During his career, Ferguson was a 10-year starter for the Jets. He went to three Pro Bowls in 2009, 2010, and 2011. The Jets drafted Ferguson with the fourth overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. New York has already had to alter their off-season plans thanks to not being able to re-sign quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Ferguson’s retirement will cause them to once again have to alter their plans. Replacing someone like D’Brickashaw Ferguson could be something that the Jets won’t be able to do in one off-season.
