When he’s on the basketball court with the Cleveland Cavaliers, you call him LeBron James. But when he’s behind the counter at Blaze Pizza, you can call him Ron.
During a recent off-day, LeBron posed as an employee of a Blaze Pizza joint in Pasadena, California. He was introduced to the customers as Ron; naturally, though, few of the patrons believed that the 6’8″, 250-pound monstrosity in front of them actually went by Ron, or that he actually slung pizzas for a living:
LeBron was convincing enough, in that sense that he was in Blaze Pizza garb. Beyond that, he stuck out like any NBA forward would stick out behind the counter of a high-end pizza joint. He riffed with one suspicious customer, Fernando, about sauces, and spoke to another about the conversation she was having with her grandma.
One Blaze Pizza-goer claimed that LeBron looked “very familiar.” Her friend (I think) concluded that he looked like Dwyane Wade. Ever the crowd-pleaser, LeBron went along with the ruse, admitting that he’s commonly mistaken for the former teammate who looks nothing like him.
The best part, though?
Selfie time with Ron:

Thumbs up to the many pizza-eaters who saw through Ron. And kudos to Blaze Pizza and LeBron for the good-natured promo.
In the future, if LeBron ever wants to go unrecognized in real life, he should consider a wig, fake beard or even some face paint. He’s no Dwyane Wade, apparently, but an apron alone just won’t cut it.
