The Masters 2016: Jordan Spieth updated leaderboard after Round 2
Jordan Spieth drops two shots after round two of the Masters, but still holds the lead going into the weekend.
Jordan Spieth has now had the outright lead at the end of a round at the Masters for six straight rounds. Although unlike many of his other rounds, today, like much of the field, was more damage control for Spieth. The wind and the playing conditions were not ideal for scoring at Augusta National Golf Club.
Despite the tough conditions, Spieth started out with two birdies early in his round. However, a double bogey on the sixth took away his progress and he went even par on the front nine. The back nine was clearly tougher for Spieth, as he birdied just one and had three bogeys, which is very un-Spieth-like at the Masters.
Luckily for Spieth, though, the rest of the field had a tough time scoring under par on Friday. Rory McIlroy scored one under and is at three under for the tournament, one back of Spieth.
Jordan Spieth -4 through 36
Rory McIlroy -3 through 36
Danny Lee -2 through 36
Scott Piercy -2 through 36
Hideki Matsuyama -2 through 36
The cut line ended up at six over with Spieth falling two shots back today. With Saturday being moving day, players will be looking to attack and have better scores than Friday, so Jordan will also have to raise his game.
Spieth and McIlroy, two of the worlds best golfers, will be in the final pairing tomorrow afternoon.
