Manchester United’s Ander Herrera guarantees win against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
Heading into the weekend Manchester United is fighting for a spot in the top four and a shot at a Champions League berth next season. They face stiff competition this weekend, traveling to London to play Tottenham Hotspur, who sit second in the table, at White Hart Lane.
But Manchester United isn’t concerned according to midfielder Ander Herrera, who went as far as to guarantee a win.
“It’s good that we are in good form and we have to keep winning our games. It’ll be a great game. They are very strong and fighting for the title,” Herrera said, via Sky Sports.
“Every player wants to play in this type of game and we will go to White Hart Lane to win.”
While some might scoff at a player making a guarantee like this, it could be misconstrued as arrogant or cocky, but this is the attitude all professional athletes possess whether they verbalize it or not. If Herrera and Manchester United didn’t believe they could win, why play the game?
“I think we perform better against top teams and always give our best, and Spurs is one of those top teams,” Herrera told MUTV.
“I think Spurs and Leicester are the only teams that have been consistent. I watched Spurs’ game at Liverpool, they controlled pretty much all of the game and played very well in the second half and could have won.
“They are still fighting for the title and we have to respect them because they have very good players.”
It should certainly be an interesting clash between two of the best teams in the Premier League this season.
