According to Adam Schefter, the New York Jets have acquired offensive tackle Ryan Clady from the Denver Broncos.

The Denver Broncos and New York Jets are two teams that have been doing plenty of working leading up to the NFL Draft and on Saturday, the two teams came together on a deal that works out for both sides.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets have acquired Pro Bowl offensive tackle Ryan Clady and a seventh-round pick from the Broncos in exchange for a fifth-round pick.

The move makes a lot of sense for the Jets, as it comes a day after offensive tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson announced his retirement. With a lack of depth behind him, trading for Clady is a move that made too much sense for the Jets to do.

Clady didn’t play during the 2015 season after he tore his ACL in OTA’s. While it will be interesting to see how he comes back from the knee injury, he made the Pro Bowl the season before and is one of the best tackles in the league when he is healthy.

The Jets really didn’t give up too much to get him, while the Broncos are able to pick up another higher draft pick, as they continue to shuffle their roster and rebuild on offense. With more ammunition now in the draft, this is a trade that will allow the Broncos to do a variety of things on draft day, where John Elway always strikes gold.

It also allows the Jets to be more maneuverable with their pick as well and pick best player available instead of drafting a tackle for need.
