Jordan Spieth continues to lead the 2016 edition of The Masters for the third consecutive round.
It’s been the Spieth show for much of the first major tournament of the golf season as he continues to find a way to keep his lead despite struggling at a handful of holes.
The wind was a challenge for the second straight day at Augusta. However, Spieth was able to capitalize on a few calmer moments to hit some big approach shots near the hole and capitalize by sinking the tough puts. Augusta’s greens are challenging and break fast, but he was able to hit key birdie puts to extend his lead after it was a tighter gap between him and his competitors.
Spieth is in a good spot to win his second-straight Masters’ Green Jacket in only his third appearance. He’s the best young golfer on the tour currently. He’s a versatile player and nothing seems to break him as he’s been able to bounce back from some tough holes at this year to regain control and confidence of his game.
For the second day in a row, Spieth will play in the final grouping of the round. He was leading by four strokes at the beginning of last year’s final round. This year he heads into the final round leading by 1 stroke at -3. Things are clicking for Spieth currently and all the momentum is behind the young golf star as he begins his final round at Augusta on Sunday.
He fizzled out on the final few holes and will need to start the final round strongly on Sunday to make sure that no one else makes a run for the lead. It would be disappointing if Spieth led for three rounds and then wasn’t able to close out his second-straight Masters victory.
