A broadcast glitch accidentally turned Bartolo Colon’s skin blue.
One of the best things about the New York Mets is starting pitcher Bartolo Colon. Whether you love his girth, his lovable personality, or you simply love watching him bat, Colon has become one of the league’s most popular pitchers. While Bartolo was preparing for his start against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday, the Mets starting pitcher appeared turned blue thanks to a broadcast glitch.
Like “Blue Man Group” blue. Papa Smurf blue.
It looked like Colon was in a 1990’s music video from Eiffel 65. That’s a good look for Colon. It matches the Mets blue after all. But as Joon pointed out, yes, he does look like a Smurf.
Bartolo Colon has had a heck of a 19-year career. It might not get him into Cooperstown, but it’s still one to be very proud of. He has a career, Colon has served up a 3.97 ERA, complete with a record of 218-154. He’s has pitched in 476 games, including 467 starts and a total of 2,982 innings entering his start against the Phillies.
The Mets starting pitcher won the AL Cy Young back in 2005 as a member of the Los Angeles Angels. During his career, Colon has pitched for the Cleveland Indians, the Montreal Expos, the Chicago White Sox, the Angels, the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees, the Oakland Athletics, and the Mets.
