After entering the 2015 season with somewhat tempered expectations (at least compared to most years under Bob Stoops), the Sooners put together an 11-2 campaign and reached the College Football Playoff. Oklahoma ran through the Big 12 other than a bizarre loss to the rival Texas Longhorns before a 37-17 loss to the Clemson Tigers ended its season in the semifinals.
While the Sooners should be thrilled with how the season turned out, that’s going to put the pressure on heading into 2016. Oklahoma will lose plenty of talent, but should have another fun and explosive offense with quarterback Baker Mayfield and running backs Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon returning.
Most of the storylines for Oklahoma on Saturday will be on the defensive side of the ball, as it will look for a way to replace the likes of Eric Striker and Charles Tapper. The Spring Game will provide an opportunity of a new group of linebackers and defensive ends to get some game action.
