Dallas Mavericks vs Los Angeles Clippers

The Dallas Mavericks’ magic number is now one as they are 41-38 with three games left and three games up on the ninth place team in the Western Conference. Dallas hasn’t been elite this season, but it seems like they’ve done just enough to make a playoff run, but will they be able to compete with the Spurs?

Dallas is led by Dirk Nowitzki, to no one’s surprise. He’s averaging 18.3 points per game to go along with 6.5 rebounds. Deron Williams has been a solid addition, averaging 14.0 points and 5.8 assists per contest. Chandler Parsons has had a tough time staying healthy this year, but when he is, he’s a tough third scorer to guard.

The Los Angeles Clippers have already locked up at least fourth place in the Western Conference playoffs and, barring a miracle, there’s still a shot for them to tie up with Oklahoma City for third. Los Angeles has been impressive this season even without Blake Griffin for a majority of the last two months.

Griffin was leading the team in scoring before his hand injury and still is, but Chris Paul has been a savior in his absence. Paul is putting up 19.8 points and 9.9 assists per game, proving to be one of the league’s top passers. Los Angles is going to be a tough out in the postseason this year.
