Arizona Cardinals: 5 worst draft picks all-time
These are the five worst draft picks in Arizona Cardinals history.
While the last decade of football has been good to the Arizona Cardinals ever since they moved to the University of Phoenix Stadium, things weren’t always good before then and even in their new facility. While they made plenty of bad moves before they arrived in 1988, there’s enough of them in just their Arizona history to write novels, encyclopedias and hieroglyphics about.
Current general manager Steve Keim has done a tremendous job of taking over the franchise and turning them into a Super Bowl contender, but the Cardinals suffered through some bad front office personnel before him and made some terrible draft picks.
For a long while, the Cardinals seemed to be like the Cleveland Browns and would draft bust after bust in the first round of the draft. Whether it was offensive tackles that would let every pass rusher by, cornerbacks that would give up 100 yards a game or defensive ends that couldn’t get after the quarterback, the Cardinals have had some truly terrible draft picks.
Even worse, the Cardinals had a knack for passing on Hall of Fame talent with those busts and continued to dig the hole for their franchise bigger and bigger. Days in the desert weren’t always as blossoming as they are now and it serves as a humble reminder just quickly how things can change in the NFL.
