Arizona Cardinals: 5 worst draft picks all-time

6 of 6

1. Andre Wadsworth

While the Cardinals have had some very bad draft busts, none hurt more than that of Andre Wadsworth. The reason this draft bust hurt so badly for the franchise was because of the talent he had and the ability that was taken away because of knee issues.

In 1998, all the talk about the draft was centered around Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf. While those two were the best quarterback prospects leading into the draft, Wadsworth was considered the best prospect overall. With the Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers going to take the two quarterbacks, the Cardinals were excited with the prospects of getting Wadsworth.

Problems started right off the bat with Wadsworth, as he held out until the season opener because he wanted a contract like that of the two quarterbacks that were taken in front of him. The Cardinals eventually caved in and gave it to him.

His rookie season was solid and he had five sacks on the year. From there it went downhill, as he never played a full season again and after multiple knee surgeries, he would be released and find himself out of the league. He was supposed to be the superstar piece the Cardinals would build around but it all came crashing down.

To make matters worse, the Cardinals selected him ahead of Charles Woodson.
