Where do the teams stand after one week of action?

If the first week of the season is any indication, we are in for a heck of a 2016 campaign. We have a great story being written in Colorado. We had an almost no-hitter by a pitcher in his major league debut.  We’ve had some wacky weather along with players complaining about it.

So get your dancing shoes on. It’s time for week two of the  MLB power rankings.

team. 17. It’s going to be a long season in the ATL. When your manager is already calling it an embarrassment and you may already be changing one of your players positions, it doesn’t bode well. That bullpen is UGLY.. . . Atlanta Braves. 30

team. 6. Speaking of ugly bullpens, say hi to the Phillies! Don’t tell the Mets that after Jeanmar Gomez converted two save chances over the weekend. Their starting pitching is going to keep them in games. Aaron Nola and Vincent Velasquez are going to make them watchable this year.. (10-4). Previous: . Philadelphia Phillies. 29

108. Well, we knew they were going to hit, we just didn’t realize that they would have Babe Ruth’s great great grandchild playing shortstop. Trevor Story is blowing away records and ebay sales of his rookie cards. That pitching though….. . Previous: . Colorado Rockies. 28. team

Scooter Genett and Johnathan Villar have looked good up the middle and Jimmy Nelson looks like he’s a building block for the pitching staff moving forward. If they can get some of their power arms back in the bullpen, maybe it won’t be such a long summer in Milwaukee.. . Previous: . Milwaukee Brewers. 27. team. 76

26. team. 127. What a crazy week for the Padres. They were completely shut out by the Dodgers at home and then go to Colorado and look like the 1927 Yankees. Now Tyson Ross is on the DL with a shoulder issue. At least they have a ton of draft picks to look forward to in June.. . Previous: . San Diego Padres

Previous: . Minnesota Twins. 25. team. 2. Rough start for the Twins. Going to Baltimore and then the World Champs. If the starting pitching did well, the bullpen would fail and they couldn’t get a big hit this week at all. Things will get better though..

61. The Reds were one pitch away from having an undefeated week. After sweeping the Phillies they took two of three against the Pirates. They’ll get more pitching help soon since they have an entire rotation worth injured.. . Previous: . Cincinnati Reds. 24. team

Seattle Mariners. 23. team. 62. Robinson Cano looks like a man on a mission and they have enough starting pitching to compete, but, like many other teams, their bullpen is going to hold them back.. . Previous:

82. This may be the story of the Marlins this year. They are able to hit, but can not pitch. Even Jose Fernandez got roughed up in his debut this week.Their weak farm system took a hit with Tyler Kolek needing Tommy John surgery.. . Previous: . Miami Marlins. 22. team

21. team. 96. It was a rough start to the week at home for the A’s but going into Seattle and getting the sweep will help things. Their back end combo of Sean Doolittle and Ryan Madson looks pretty good so far. Will they hit enough though?. . Previous: . Oakland Athletics

Well, we knew the O’s could hit and they have, but I did not see this coming with their pitching staff. It’s a good start against the Twins and Rays, but can they keep it going? Their staff may turn into a pumpkin at any time.. . Previous: . Baltimore Orioles. 20. team. 11

128. It was a nice start for the Pale Hose this week, taking three of four from the A’s and splitting with the Indians. Their rotation looks good and Jose Abreu can still mash. Can the bullpen continue to do the job?. . Previous: . Chicago White Sox. 19. team

Their super rotation got racked around a bit as Zack Greinke looked like a meer mortal. Losing A.J Pollack for basically the season is going to really hurt down the line, though Socrates Brito looks interesting (and has a cool name).. . Previous: . Arizona Diamondbacks. 18. team. 8

It seems like it may be the same old song for Tampa. Chris Archer struggled this week, but he’ll even out. Can they hit enough to support their arms?. . Previous: . Tampa Bay Rays. 17. team. 21

team. 102. Poor Mike Trout. He didn’t have a good week, but man, other than Albert Pujols, that offense is going to be hard to watch all season long. Jered Weaver looked good today, but he’s only throwing about 84 and they lost Andrew Heaney for a while. It may be a long season out in LA.. . Previous: . Los Angeles Angels. 16

They may regret that Mike Pelfrey deal and Justin Upton hasn’t gotten it going yet, but Miguel Cabrera and Ian Kinsler look like themselves and their bullpen may hold up even with the occasional K-Rod blowup. Jordan Zimmermann looked filthy.. . Previous: . Detroit Tigers. 15. team. 63

14. team. 14. Boston’s offense is going to be really good, but their rotation is going to be hard to watch other than David Price. Brock Holt looks very comfortable so far in a starting role and Travis Shaw is settling in at third.. . Previous: . Boston Red Sox

. Previous: . Washington Nationals. 12. team. 90. Daniel Murphy has fit right in. Bryce Harper looks like Bryce Harper. They lost Ben Revere, but now Michael Taylor will finally get a chance to play every day. All’s right with the Nats so far.

43. Starlin Castro fit right in and they are going to score a ton of runs this year against subpar pitching. However, their rotation is going  to be a huge concern. They can’t push Masahiro Tanaka and their other starters struggled. They may need to make some moves to remain in it. . . Previous: . New York Yankees. 11. team

. Previous: . Pittsburgh Pirates. 10. team. 4. The Pirates got off to such a good start in sweeping the Cardinals, but then they were a homer by Starling Marte away from being swept by the Reds. David Freese has been solid but has struck out a ton and Gerrit Cole will get it together after a rusty first outing.

9. team. 33. Yes they got swept by Pittsburgh, but they went to Atlanta and took care of business as they should. The pitching isn’t there yet, but maybe they have something in Jeremy Hazelbaker. The Cardinals seem to get guys out of nowhere and turn them into something.. . Previous: . St. Louis Cardinals

. Previous: . Los Angeles Dodgers. 8. team. 71. The Dodgers now have 11 players on the DL and just bought an extra infielder and outfielder from the Indians. They are going to have to keep grinding and it shows that Andrew Freidman has done a great job in providing depth for the club.

Houston Astros. 7. team. 135. I would be a little worried about the rotation outside of Dallas Keuchel. Their offense is going to hit a ton of homers and they may have found another bat in Tyler White. . . Previous:

126. Rough end to the week with Shin-Soo Choo and Robinson Chirinos getting hurt but top prospect Nomar Mazara now gets his chance in the outfield. They even found a way to win this week with only one hit. Not a bad start.. . Previous: . Texas Rangers. 6. team

39. What a surprise. The Jays were able to hit the cover off the ball. The problem was the rotation didn’t give enough except for opening day and Marco Estrada yesterday. The bullpen in front of Roberto Osuna struggled and they need them to step up to return to the playoffs.. . Previous: . Toronto Blue Jays. 5. team

3. It was a rough week for the Mets on offense. Curtis Granderson and Yoenis Cespedes haven’t gotten it going yet. Neil Walker has settled right in. When you lose two of three at home to the Phillies, you’re going to drop a bit. . . Previous: . New York Mets. 4. team

San Francisco Giants. 3. team. 40. They were being no-hit into the eighth and still won. Denard Span has fit right in. The offense has looked great and Brandon Belt was locked up for another few years. Just another even year by the bay.. . Previous:

team. 9. It was a tough blow this week with Kyle Schwarber going down with a torn ACL, but if any team has enough depth to be fine without him it’s the Cubs. Jake Arrieta looks like himself from last year. . . Previous: . Chicago Cubs. 2

1. team. 7. The only reason they lost this week is because Noah Syndergaard was unhittable. The Royals look like the same team from last year. You have to make sure you get all 27 outs on them because they can come back at any time. Just ask the Twins yesterday. I would be a little concerned about Joakim Soria, but they look again like the team to beat. . . Previous: . Kansas City Royals
