6. player. 26.
The Ravens almost always ignore need and take the best player available. To be fair, sometimes those two approaches line up perfectly (as they did for the Jaguars with the number five pick in this mock), but Baltimore’s Ozzie Newsome won’t hesitate to select talent for the long term over plugging a hole on the present-day roster.

Hello, DeForest Buckner.

Buckner is the best player available, both in my mind and the mind of BR’s Miller, and that makes him a prime target for the Ravens. Baltimore should absolutely consider investing in a left tackle of the future in the mold of Notre Dame’s Ronnie Stanley, but if this team agrees that Buckner is a premium talent, taking him over a player like Stanley makes a ton of sense.

He provides big-time size at 6-foot-7 and more than 290 pounds, and Buckner can thrive as a defensive end in either a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme. He can even play inside on passing downs. Baltimore could utilize him in a highly effective manner, and if not for the presence of a legitimate number one talent in Joey Bosa, Buckner would be worthy of the title of best defensive end in this draft. This is a coup for the Ravens.
. DE. Oregon. DeForest Buckner
