The Detroit Pistons clinched an Eastern Conference Playoffs spot for the first time since 2007-08. Here are five reasons the Pistons can win it all in 2016.

A few days ago, the Detroit Pistons clinched their first trip to the Eastern Conference Playoffs in eight seasons. Detroit is 43-37 through 80 games in 2015-16, the Pistons first winning season since 2007-08.

As either the seventh or eighth seed, Detroit will wind up playing either the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers or the No. 2 seeded Toronto Raptors in the first round of Eastern Conference Playoffs. Through 80 games, Detroit and the Central Division rival Indiana Pacers have identical records, and are vying for the seventh seed.

The Pistons put it all together in the second year of the Stan Van Gundy era in Motown. Detroit now presents a difficult first-round matchup for either the Cavaliers or the Raptors. A few thought that Detroit would fade down the stretch, but the Pistons played solid basketball for the entire 2015-16 NBA campaign. Their hard work earned them a well-deserved trip to the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

While few outside of Michigan believe the Pistons have any shot in the first round against either Cleveland or Toronto, the Pistons do stand as arguably the most dangerous underdog in the first round of the playoffs in either conference. Nobody really knows what this young team will be capable of come playoff time.

Though it would be the most shocking NBA Championship to date, here are five reasons that underdog 2015-16 Pistons can win the 2016 NBA Finals in June.
