Which five players make the list of worst NFL draft picks in Chicago Bears franchise history?
It’s been 31 years since the Chicago Bears won a Super Bowl, and it was the only one in franchise history. Since the last title, there have been many ill-advised draft picks as well as some great ones.
Throughout the history of the organization, there have been Hall of Famers and duds. Guys like Walter Payton, Gale Sayers, Brian Urlacher and Richard Dent have molded the organization into the top-tier, well-respected one that it is today, but it’s been quite some time since the Bears have been truly great.
Each one of those guys has long since retired from football and it might be a while before Chicago drafts a great player of their caliber again. Chicago has been close with Alshon Jeffery and Matt Forte, but the latter is moving on after the 2015 season with unfinished business and Jeffery doesn’t have enough of a sample size.
Along with all of the great picks, there have been some that had fans and experts raving at the time, but left them scratching their heads after those picks failed to reach their potential. In honor of the upcoming draft, we will take a look at some of those former Bears picks that didn’t go quite as planned.
Today, we are going to focus on the poor NFL draft picks that seemed like solid options at the time, but turned out to be major busts. Do you agree or disagree with our list, and did we miss someone that should have been named? Let us know in the comment section below.
