Donald Trump brings up Jordan Spieth’s collapse in speech

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump brought up Jordan Spieth’s collapse at The Masters in his latest campaign speech.

Jordan Spieth had one of the biggest collapses in golf history this past Sunday at The Masters, when he lost a big lead during the final round. It was a tough loss for golf’s young phenom, but there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that it will only make him better in the long run.

Donald Trump, who is campaigning in New York, decided that Spieth was going to be the latest target of one his speeches. While speaking in Rome, New York, Trump mentioned to the crowd how Jordan Spieth choked in The Masters and compared it to Mitt Romney losing in the 2012 presidential election.

Trump mentions Spieth’s collapse at the 1 hour and 42 minute mark.

Here it is transcribed via ForTheWin.

"“That last election should have been won except Romney choked like a dog. He choked … Let me tell you, Jordan Spieth choked a little bit, but you know what, he’s going to recover. He’s a great young guy, and he’s going to recover. (Mitt) Romney can’t recover from a choke.”"

Bringing up Spieth as a symbol of choking probably is unfair to him and it really doesn’t make sense in a speech to become president. Alas, that’s what this political season has become and right now Trump is in a position where he holds a lead in the Republican primaries.

For his sake, he better hope he doesn’t end up like Spieth or Romney.
