Here are the five best draft picks ever made by the Miami Dolphins.

For many younger NFL fans, all that is known about the Miami Dolphins is bad free agent signings, losses to the AFC East and a bullying incident in the locker room that was the ultimate embarrassment. But for just over two decades, there was no more consistent team when it came to making the playoffs and putting winning teams on the field.

From for the 25 seasons from when Don Shula took over as the head coach of the Dolphins in 1970 until the 1994 campaign, the Dolphins were in the playoffs 15 times (including all five of the franchise’s trips to the Super Bowl and their two titles). Just twice during that span did Miami have a losing season.

In the decade that followed, the playoff appearances when down, but the talent didn’t. Some of the best players in the history of the Miami Dolphins are also the best in the history of the NFL.

When it came to the NFL Draft, the Dolphins have picked plenty of athletes who would find their names listed as the best in the history of the organization.

Of that group, these are the five best draft picks in the history of the franchise.
