New England Patriots: 5 best draft picks of all-time

1 of 6

Here are the five best picks in the history of the New England Patriots.

For the first 33 years that the New England Patriots played football, there wasn’t that much success as the team went to the playoffs just six times (including a run to the Super Bowl during the 1985 season that ended with a blowout loss to the Chicago Bears). Since then, it has been a different story as the Patriots have missed the postseason just five times in the last 22 seasons.

No matter the era, the story is the same for New England: building through the draft. Sure, they have gone out and picked up a free agent when needed, but for the most part, the Patriots are one of the few teams left that still builds through the selection process each April.

Even with a few misses here and there, the Patriots have traditionally had players produce memorable careers while playing in Foxboro. It’s more than just guys named Brady and Law and Gronk and Bruschi, among others who have been keys to a legendary franchise.

With that, here are the five best draft picks in the history of the New England Patriots, including some recent stars that were a major part of the team’s recent dynasty.
