If there was ever someone who was in the right place at the right time, it was big Vince Wilfork. After a career at the University of Miami where he won a national title as a freshman on one of the best teams in college football history in 2001, Wilfork was able to hoist a Super Bowl trophy during his first year with the Patriots after being taken 21st overall in 2004.

During his 11-year stint, Wilfork was one of the most beloved and likeable players off the field and one of the most feared people on it. A five-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro, Wilfork clogged the middle of the Patriots’’ defensive line for over a decade and was the force that helped lead the team to four Super Bowl appearances during his time with the team, twice being able to call himself a world champ.

The numbers don’t put him in the top 10 all-time in tackles or sacks, but his presence on the defensive line was distributive enough to allow everyone to do their job, meaning Wilfork was the definition of a team player that Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft talk about wanting on this team.
