When can Josh Gordon file for NFL reinstatement again?

After having his reinstatement denied by the NFL, when can suspended wide receiver Josh Gordon file for reinstatement again?

Josh Gordon continues to delay his return to the NFL and possibly his shot at ever playing in the league again. Gordon recently failed another drug test after a diluted sample and on Tuesday, the NFL officially denied reinstating him into the league.

While it’s not clear whether or not Gordon will receive a suspension for his failed test, he once again won’t be allowed back into the league and at this point, it really puts the chances of him playing this year in jeopardy, as it will be a while before he can file for reinstatement again.

Gordon officially can’t file for reinstatement again until August 1, which is around the beginning of training camp. However, that means that he will have to be clean and show that he is ready to be reinstated to the league amid a careful review from the league.

Even then, the odds of him playing if he’s reinstated would depend upon whether or not the league suspends for this latest failed test. Gordon seemed to brush off the latest report yesterday with a series of tweets about the story.

It’s also unclear whether or not the Cleveland Browns would even bring him back considering that they’re moving in a new direction under new head coach Hue Jackson. Gordon has plenty of talent, but with the amount of tests he’s failed and the lack of accountability that he has shown, they might just choose to wipe the slate clean.

So Gordon still won’t be back in the NFL for a while, but he’ll get his chance at reinstatement again on the very first day of August.
