The Blackhawks aim to be the first NHL team to two win consecutive Stanley Cups since the Detroit Red Wings in 1997 and 1998. Dominant forwards Patrick Kane, the Art Ross Trophy winner, and Jonathan Toews carry the offense into the first round, boasting a combined for 164 points. Kane enters the postseason after completing the best regular season of his storied career and becoming the first American in history to lead the league in scoring. In the crest, Corey Crawford returns to the net ready to defend a Duncan Keith-less rink for game one.

The Blues, meanwhile, enter the postseason with a reputation for playoff collapse. Yet, after a season battling constant injuries, St. Louis finished with a 49-24-9 record, landing them in second place in the brutal Central Division and third place overall in the NHL—ranking them higher than the Blackhawks. Going into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Blues offense is building off momentum it build at the end of the regular season, with Vladimir Tarasenko setting a career high in goals scored. Robby Fabbri, Jaden Schwartz, Paul Stastny and Troy Brouwer will also be key contributors to the Blues’ front lines. However, St. Louis’ greatest strength unquestionably lies in its defense, with Alex Pietrangelo, Jay Bouwmeester, and Kevin Shattenkirk leading the way.
