NFL Draft Rumors: Titans have offer for number one pick
The Tennessee Titans reportedly have a definite solid offer for the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
By finishing with a 3-13 record in 2015, the Tennessee Titans have the luxury of having the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. There have been rumors floating around that they are exploring trading down to get more draft picks so they can speed up their rebuild.
According to Peter King, Tennessee has a legitimate offer from another team for the number one overall pick, and Tennessee hasn’t completely ruled out trading down in the first round.
From MMQB:
"One personnel man said over the weekend that the Titans have a definite solid offer for the pick and, if it’s sweetened, could be persuaded to go down a few spots."
While no team is going to give them a bounty like the one that the New Orleans Saints gave up for running back Ricky Williams in 1999 (New Orleans gave up their entire draft for him) or even the one that the Washington Redskins gave up for Robert Griffin III, if Tennessee plays their cards right, they could get a very good return for the first overall pick and still come away with a great player, especially if they stay in the top five.
Tennessee has reportedly expressed interest in defensive back Jalen Ramsey from Florida State. He would fit in very well with the Tennessee’s defense and could drastically improve their inexperienced secondary. Tennessee could simply draft him with the first overall pick and make sure that they get him. On the other hand, they could gamble and see if they can trade down and still get their guy.
