Here’s where you can watch Game 1 of the Eastern Conference first round series between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings.
One of the most exciting postseasons in sports is set to get under way on Wednesday with the start of the NHL Playoffs.
The first round of the 2016 playoffs features big rivalry matchups and some rematches from last season’s playoffs, and it promises to be as entertaining as ever. One of the closest matchups figures to be between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings, who were separated by just four points in the regular season.
One of the huge storylines of Game 1 will be the return of Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin to home ice. Drouin was recently reinstated from a six week suspension for refusing to play after being sent down to the AH. That didn’t exactly sit well with Lightning fans, but he can change the story with a goal in Game 1.
Pavel Datsyuk will start off his 14th and final playoff campaign in Detroit on Wednesday. The Red Wings will need Datsyuk’s mastery, along with a spark from outstanding rookie Dylan Larkin, to knock off the Lightning on home ice.
Tampa Bay took down Detroit in seven games in the first round of the 2015 Eastern Conference Playoffs. The Lightning will hope to start off another run to the Stanley Cup Finals in similar fashion at 7:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Amalie Arena.
Wednesday’s Game 1 can be watched on the NBCSports Network, CBC, or Fox Sports Detroit for regional coverage. The game can also be streamed live on NBC Sports Live Extra.
