NHL Playoffs: When is Rangers vs. Penguins Game 2?
The New York Rangers look to even the series against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 2 after losing 5-2 in Game 1 on Wednesday evening.
It was too much Patric Hornqvist in Game 1 for the New York Rangers who saw the Pittsburgh Penguins veteran winger record a hat trick in the 5-2 win on Wednesday night to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Sidney Crosby added a goal and two assists and Jeff Zatkoff had 35 saves as he started for an ailing Marc-Andre Fleury. Meanwhile, the Rangers saw star goalie Henrik Lundqvist leave early after he was speared with the end of Marc Staal’s stick and his playing status could be in jeopardy for the rest of the series.
Anti Raanta came in for the injured netminder and played well, at least, until the third period started and he allowed three goals to put an end to their comeback bid. Derek Stepan had two goals for the Blueshirts in the losing effort and he’ll look to lead them into Game 2 to try to even the series.
Game 2 of the first round series between the two Metropolitan Division foes is scheduled for Saturday, April 16 at Pittsburgh’s CONSOL Energy Center at 3 p.m. (ET). You can watch the game on NBC, CBC, TVA Sports depending on your cable package and location.
The Rangers hope to have Lundqvist with them as they look to steal home-ice advantage from the surging Penguins.
