The Suns have three first round picks in this year’s draft, so it’s not hard to believe they’ll grab an international player and attempt to develop him overseas. They’ve already done this once, and with 2014 1st rounder Bogdan Bogdanovic reportedly coming over next year, the Suns could restock their shelves with Korkmaz, the youngster from Turkey.

Korkmaz has gotten limited minutes on Efes this year, but he’s basically playing in the role he’d occupy in the NBA. He spots up, he launches threes at a rate of 54 percent of his field goal attempts (hitting an absurd 46.9 percent), and he does a decent enough job on the ball on defense to maintain a presence on the floor. He’s also a decent off-the-dribble attacker offensively, which he has shown in international play, and he should be more than just a one-dimensional shooter. He also has good size and discipline, meaning that his defense should continue to get better as he matures.

The Suns are a solid landing spot for Korkmaz, who has never really gotten a chance to get quality minutes in Europe. They could sit on him for 1-2 years, letting him take on more of the offensive load once Dario Saric comes over this summer, and add a well-polished Korkmaz to a more concretely built Suns squad in 2018.
