NHL Playoffs: When is Blues vs. Blackhawks Game 2?
The Chicago Blackhawks will attempt to even the series in Game 2 of their series vs. the St. Louis Blues after losing 1-0 in overtime in Game 1.
Game 1 of the series between the two Central Division foes was filled with neck-and-neck aggression and failures to capitalize on their power play scoring opportunities. Both teams goaltenders, Brian Elliot for the Blues and Corey Crawford for the Blackhawks, performed well above the rest of their teammates, blocking 35 and 17 goals, respectively.
It took until overtime for either side to finally put a puck in the opponent’s net. Approximately nine minutes into OT, St. Louis center David Backes, assisted by Jay Bouwmeester and Alex Pietrangelo, scored off a deflection, giving the Blues a 1-0 series lead over the Blackhawks.
The puck went off the right skate of Blackhawks defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk before skidding past Crawford for the game-winner.
Game 2 of the first round series between the two Central Division rivals is scheduled for Friday, April 15 at St. Louis’s Scottrade Center at 8 p.m. ET. The game will be aired on NBC Sports network.
The Blackhawks will no doubt hope that the return of two-time Norris Trophy winner Duncan Keith will allow them to gain the advantage over the Blues. The depth on the blue line is one area the Blackhawks could be vulnerable against Vladimir Tarasenko and the rest of the Blues.
