NHL Playoffs Flyers vs. Capitals Game 1 live stream: Watch online
Philadelphia Flyers at Washington Capitals
The Philadelphia Flyers will visit the Washington Capitals at the Verizon Center for game one of their first round series in the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs. They are familiar foes as they have been rivals since the 1970s. This will be the the fifth time that they have squared off in the playoffs, but the first time since 2008. Both teams have won two playoff series against the other.
Philadelphia will be led by center Claude Giroux, wing Wayne Simmonds, and defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere. Head coach Dave Hakstol has done a great job getting his team back to the playoffs. Gostisbehere’s call up changed the Flyers season and made them a much better team. They will be especially motivated to win because of the recent death of the great Ed Snider, their former chairman.
The Capitals will be led by star forward Alex Ovechkin, centers Nicklas Backstrom and Evgeny Kuznetsov, and goaltender Braden Holtby. A deep defense that features John Carlson, Matt Niskanen, Dmitry Orlov, and Nate Schmidt will look to slow down the fast moving Flyers.
