The Golden State Warriors set the record as they won 73 games in the regular season and Twitter had things to say
The Golden State Warriors were the favorites to win the NBA Championship this season coming off of a dominant title run last season where they won 67 games in the regular season. However, everyone thought that they would regress slightly—the logic being that them getting any better would essentially mean that they’d have to make history by winning more games than any NBA team ever has in a regular season.
As it turns out, that’s exactly what the Warriors had in store for everybody.
On Wednesday night as the NBA regular season came to a close, it was the Warriors defeating the Memphis Grizzlies inside ORACLE Arena to set the record with their 73rd win of the season, officially breaking the record set by the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls.
What’s crazy is that the 73 wins wasn’t the only record being set on Wednesday night as Kobe Bryant scored 60 points in the final game of his career a few hundred miles south of Oakland. Meanwhile, Stephen Curry also became the first player to hit 400 threes in a season as part of the Warriors getting win No. 73.
All in all, it was a wild night for the Warriors and the NBA, so obviously Twitter had things to say:
two magical numbers that define history

The Warriors could have the record, as long as the Cavs get the ring

S/O to the Warriors for breaking the record too. #Respect

By far the best tweet came from the Bulls, though, as their official Twitter congratulated the Warriors on their accomplishment:
Congratulations @warriors on your historic season. #Respect

We have to agree there; congratulations to Golden State on this incredible record and accomplishment.
