The NFL Draft will continue touring the country, and the city of Denver wants to host the game in 2019.

Last year, the NFL Draft left its home of over five decades in New York City to start going around the country. The event being held in Chicago was met with rave reviews and the league has decided to keep moving it around the country on a permanent basis.

In 2016, the NFL Draft will again be held in Chicago, but multiple cities are making bids to host it in future years. Both Los Angeles (now home of a NFL franchise for the first time since 1994) and Canton, Ohio (site of the Pro Football Hall of Fame) have made it clear they would like to host the draft in the future.

Now, another NFL city wants to get into the business of hosting the yearly selection draft. Denver, home of the defending Super Bowl champion Broncos, wants the 2019 NFL Draft to come to the Mile High City.

A spokesman for the Denver Broncos told Denver TV station KUSA-TV says plans are in place to make a bid:

"“We’re very eager to pursue hosting the NFL Draft,” Broncos spokesperson Patrick Smyth said. “The next few drafts unfortunately don’t align perfectly with the football calendar, but 2019 shapes up well.’’"

The 2019 NFL Draft would be the first event in a year long celebration of the 100th anniversary of the league. The NFL has yet to announce what cities will host the 2017 and 2018 drafts nor what cities have officially filled bids to host those events.

Since the first NFL Draft was held before the start of the 1936 season, the selection process has been held in seven cities (New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Milwaukee and Los Angeles).
