Jim Harbaugh’s daughter upstaged everyone at Career Day.
Any teacher, doctor, or mail carrier presenting to Addie Harbaugh’s class on Career Day was seriously upstaged. Somehow, the head coach of the University of Michigan football team and former head coach of the 49ers, Jim Harbaugh, arranged for New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees to show up for his kid’s career day.
Even though it is the off-season, Harbaugh has been in the news a lot recently. Earlier in the week, he received coverage for criticizing the NCAA’s decision to ban satellite camps, saying via Sports Illustrated, “The incompetence of the NCAA has reared its ugly head yet again.”
While Harbaugh is surely the most popular dad in his daughter’s class, he was recently flamed by Ohio State running back and draft prospect Ezekiel Elliott. Elliott thinks Harbaugh is all talk, and has generated too much press.
Elliott recently said on the Paul Finebaum Show, via The Detroit Free Press, “I’m tired hearing about Coach Harbaugh; I think he needs to get in check with reality because at the end of the day, you can’t talk smack about a rivalry when you haven’t won a rivalry game. You got to win ballgames to be able to talk behind it.”
Several weeks ago, Harbaugh ended up in verbal tiff with OSU athletic director Gene Smith, referencing tattoo-related NCAA violations several years ago:
Though Harbaugh does have his detractors, bringing Drew Brees to Career Day was incredibly cool. Unless, of course, you are Liam’s dad, the accountant slated to present after the Super Bowl Champion quarterback or a Detroit Lion’s fan worried about the next generation of fans defecting to the New Orleans Saints.
