The Rams should have just stayed at pick 15, here is why

The Rams took the NFL world by storm on Thursday morning when they announced that they had traded for the number one overall pick. The deal in total sent the number 15 overall pick, two second rounds picks, a third round pick and next years first and third round picks to the Titans. The Rams got back pick number one, a fourth rounder, and a seventh round pick.

It is not quite as big as the deal the Rams were involved in just four years ago when they played the Titans role and moved down from the number two overall pick, so that Washington could take Robert Griffin, but nonetheless this is a pretty significant deal.

The general reaction has been somewhat positive for both sides, which is rare in todays day and age. The general consensus is that the Rams needed a quarterback, the Titans did not and the Browns sitting at the second overall pick were planning to take their top quarterback. The Rams obviously needed to jump the Browns, the Titans are a team with a quarterback and little around him so to stock on depth makes a ton of sense, and boom we have a deal. However, when thinking big picture, there are plenty of ways the Rams could have sat back at pick 15, kept all of their draft picks, and still have been a successful team, possibly in the same amount of time or shorter.
