Josh Gordon is reportedly drawing interest from multiple NFL teams despite his checkered past.
The career of wide receiver Josh Gordon has been a very disappointing one. While Gordon has all the talent in the world and has shown that he’s a game changer every time he steps on the field, he has not been able to step on the field nearly as often as the Cleveland Browns have wanted him to thanks to failing multiple drug tests.
Gordon is a controversial figure because he has failed those drug tests for smoking marijuana. It’s something that a lot of people do, but the NFL remains extremely strict about. Despite his checkered past and his off the field issues, there are still NFL teams interested in Gordon.
From Bleacher Report:
"Despite failing multiple drug tests—despite apparently thinking the NFL’s drug policies are voluntary—Gordon still garners a great deal of interest."
There is a side to Gordon’s story that many people don’t understand – why does Josh Gordon keep smoking weed knowing that he will get in trouble for doing so? If he loves football, why doesn’t he give up marijuana? The answer could be fairly simple.
Nobody has confirmed that Gordon is an addict, but Gordon is showing every sign that one would expect to see out of an addict. If Gordon is a drug addict, that ties up a lot of loose ends and suddenly everything makes sense.
Teams are willing to overlook his past because smoking marijuana is not nearly as bad as, say, domestic violence. Gordon is undeniably talented and still only 25 years old. Teams are willing to take a gamble and hope that they can fix them.
Hopefully for the sake of not just Josh Gordon but everyone in his life, he gets his life turned around and gets the help he needs. Because it would be upsetting to see the NFL lose one of its most talented players.
