A look at five reasons that the Toronto Raptors can win the 2016 NBA Finals

Being a Toronto Raptors fan right now has to be a strange feeling entering the 2016 NBA Playoffs. While they enter the Eastern Conference bracket of the postseason as the No. 2 seed and arguably playing the best basketball of any team in the East, they have decades of history weighing down on their shoulders that fans won’t soon forget.

Since the Raptors’ inaugural season in 1995-96, Toronto has made it into the postseason eight times (including this year). However, they’ve won only one series in the history of the franchise and haven’t won a series since 2001. That even includes last season when they were dominated and ultimately swept by the Washington Wizards in humiliating fashion.

Even with that history of ineptitude and even their recent failures in the minds of the players and fans, there is still plenty of hope that they can make their way through the Eastern Conference and even get past the Cleveland Cavaliers to make it to the 2016 NBA Finals.

There’s no denying the fact that this year’s Raptors team is far superior to last year’s team that disappointed Toronto fans in a major way. However, there’s an argument to be made and a scenario that could play out where the Toronto Raptors win an NBA Championship and win the 2016 NBA Finals. These are five reasons why that can happen.
