Draymond Green is one of the NBA’s best defensive players and is known for his unique brand of trash talking, so he uses Twitter to teach us a few things.
The Golden State Warriors’ All-Star power forward Draymond Green is considered one of the best defensive players in the game today. His ability to cover all men 6’4″ or taller sets him apart from most of his peers in the small ball era of the NBA.
Green is also a notorious trash talker. The former second-round pick by the Warriors in 2012 out of Michigan State University claims to have crafted his ability as a jawer on the playgrounds of his native Saginaw, Michigan.
Heading into the 2016 Western Conference Playoffs, the charismatic Green teaches us a few things about trash talking on his own Twitter account with a 47-second video clip.
Let me teach you about speaking your mind. This is Trash Talking 101: The Swat Patrol. #DraymondSpeakshttps://t.co/2H5slGIreS

Keeping it 100% and P.C., Green demonstrates the three key components to effectively talking trash on the defensive end of the floor. First, one must use the swat by knocking down an adversary’s shot attempt.
Next, one must tell said opponent that while he might be good at other things, basketball is not one of them. Third, the trash talker/shot blocker must look at his hand like it is the most captivating thing on Planet Earth and completely ignore the opponent whose shot one blocked.
In short, Green does provide the framework necessary to build a solid foundation as a top-notch trash talker. It’s all about action before berating an opponent verbally. If one can find other ways to get under the opponent’s skin or in his head the better.
Green will have plenty of opportunities to put his great trash talking skills to work, as his Warriors will embark on their quest to repeat as NBA Champions in these NBA Playoffs.
