Mets ace Jacob deGrom has been placed on a family medical emergency list due to something related to his newborn son
New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom has been out of the rotation early in the 2016 MLB season with an injury issue regarding his lat. However, he’s facing something much more harrowing and serious now as there is some sort of emergency happening regarding his newborn son.
The pitcher and his wife had their first child this past Monday while deGrom was out of the rotation. On Saturday, though, the Mets announced that deGrom had been placed on bereavement family medical emergency list for some issue that pertains to his newborns son:

Obviously the details in this situation are scarce considering that we’re talking about a newborn baby and the family wants to keep things private. However, that deGrom has been placed on this list with the word “emergency” involved is worrisome and incredibly sad.
As this designation works, deGrom will miss at least three days while on this list and could miss up to seven days. Mind you, the Mets surely wouldn’t demand he return if there is something serious happening with his first son.
However, the return of deGrom to the Mets is the most miniscule of concerns at this point. All that matters is the health of the baby and everyone can agree and join in to send the deGrom family thoughts and/or prayer in these dire times.
