Raptors big man Bismack Biyombo swatted Ty Lawson’s layup and then hit him with the Mutombo finger wag
When you talk about the Toronto Raptors coming into the 2016 NBA Playoffs, the first thing that comes to mind is certainly their talented backcourt of Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan. And while those two players certainly lead the way for the Raptors on most nights, they also have a talented and dangerous frontcourt that’s quite deep—something that Indiana Pacers guard Ty Lawson can attest to in regards to Bismack Biyombo.
Midway through the second quarter as the Raptors were trying to hold onto their lead in Game 1 on Saturday, Lawson tried to drive down the lane and get a layup to go. Instead, the veteran Biyombo came soaring in and turned the attempt away with a monster block. For emphasis, Biyombo then turned to the crowd and hit the classic Dikembe Mutombo finger-wag:
While I’m not sure how qualified Biyombo—even if he’s had a good season—is to use the Mutombo finger-wag, I’ll allow it after how badly he destroyed Lawson with that block.
As crazy as it seems considering how the big man looked for much of the time early in his career in Charlotte, Biyombo could really be an X-Factor in the NBA Playoffs for the Raptors as they move forward and look to exercise their demons. Don’t doubt it for a second (wags finger).
