Ohio State Spring Game 2016 attendance: Buckeyes draw over 100,000

The Ohio State Buckeyes broke their own spring game attendance record on Saturday inside the Horseshoe

When it comes to spring games for a lot of college football programs, there’s a lot to watch out for. Well, for a lot of the bigger, more notable programs in the country, attendance numbers mean a lot. It gives the players a nice atmosphere to play in and it gives the fans a huge sense of pride.

On Saturday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio, the Ohio State Buckeyes and their fans made sure that they made their mark on the spring college football season.

Urban Meyer said that he wanted to send a message by packing over 100,000 people inside Ohio Stadium for the annual scrimmage. Well, Meyer can consider that mission accomplished.

That is a ton of people for a game that’s more or less a glorified practice, but Ohio State is one of the biggest names in the history of college football, and given their success in recent years, this many people showing up isn’t really all that much of a shock.

Those folks in attendance today got to see a lot, including Cardale Jones and J.T. Barrett having themselves a nice little throwing competition and Jerome Baker maybe making the play of any spring game that we’ve seen thus far and any that we will see. So it’s not like they weren’t treated to any entertainment.

But at least the guys on Saturday that were playing for the first time got a taste of what they can expect in Columbus on Saturdays.
