Steph Curry paid homage to Run TMC when he wore their hat at the post-game press conference.
There’s a good chance that Steph Curry is already the greatest Golden State Warrior of all time. However, despite what some people might think, the franchise still existed before he got drafted.
While they never won a championship together, Run TMC was the last great group the Warriors had before the Splash Brothers as Tim Hardaway, Chris Mullin, and Mitch Redmond created a brand of beautiful, high-scoring basketball. Growing up, one has to think that their style of play influenced Curry which is why he paid homage to them after their waxing of the Houston Rockets in Game 1:
The Warriors easily paced the rest of the league in offense this year with 114.76 points per game, and Curry hitting a record 402 3-pointers in the regular season which shattered his previous record by a wide margin. Chances are, Run TMC would be very proud of the way the Warriors played all season and in Game 1.
Of course, Curry was spotted leaving the game early which raised some concerns about his status going forward. Steve Kerr even put the questionable tag on him when asked about it. However, if Game 1 provided any indication, it’s that Houston has already checked out of this series, and Kerr wouldn’t be risking anything if he rested Curry until he was 100%. Having him ready for a deep run and a possible repeat will be absolutely key.
