Boban Marjanovic is a giant human and showed what happens when a mere mortal tries to guard him.
When the San Antonio Spurs signed little known center Boban Marjanovic out of Serbia, they knew what they were getting. Marjanovic is a huge center who stands at 7’3″. He was expected to play a minor role, which he has. What nobody expected is that he would become a bit of a cult hero. Fans love his personality and his hilarious height. He put his height on display against the Memphis Grizzlies in the first game of the Spurs first round series.
Marjanovic has done well in a very limited role for the Spurs. He averaged 5.5 points per game in the regular season. Marjanovic also averaged 0.4 blocks per game and 3.6 rebounds per game in 54 games. He averaged 9.4 points per game. His Spurs teammates sure loved watching him dunk. It’s comical to see how huge he is and how easily he dunks against the 6’10” Jarell Martin. Marjanovic is a giant against him.
He came over to the NBA after four years in the Euroleague. Injuries almost cost him his career, but Marjanovic has fought through them. Most notably, foot injuries affected him after his 2014-2015 season, during which he averaged 25.7 points per game in 27.3 minutes per game.
