Here are the official results from the 2016 Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
It’s never a pretty race at Bristol Motor Speedway when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series runs a race, but it’s always an exciting one. On Sunday, it was all about survival on a day of double-digit cautions and just about every driver at some point ran into some trouble.
Carl Edwards began the day on the pole and he raced practically a flawless race. Unlike his teammates at Joe Gibbs Racing, Edwards had no issues with tires and had no troubles with hitting the wall. The same couldn’t be said for Kyle Busch however.
Busch would wreck three times, pick up two speeding penalties and would have his worst race of the season. However, there were other drivers that got their chance to shine on Sunday. Landon Cassill got his run at being in first place and was tremendous in battle.
It was the most cautions of any race this season and it really showed as the drivers up front couldn’t make moves because of the wrecks going on behind them. In the end, it was Carl Edwards who pulled away with a dominating win at the track as no one came close to touching him. Here are the complete results from the 2016 Food City 500.
