Here are the five worst NFL Draft picks by the Kansas City Chiefs.
I warn you now. This is not a pretty sight. It is a heart-wrenching, sickening, nauseating read for any die-hard Kansas City Chiefs’ supporter. It will bring back painful memories of some of the worst players to take the field at Arrowhead Stadium and will reopen wounds that have not been uncovered for years.
For that, I apologize, however, sometimes it is intriguing, exciting, and nearly comical, to look back and despair over many of the choices of the organization gone by.
The Chiefs are a highly established franchise. They can stake claim to one of the best stadiums in the country, a great fan base and a history that is entwined with the fate of the NFL.
Former owner, Lamar Hunt, came up with the name Super Bowl. This organization is a central pillar of football and is one of the bigger teams in the NFL today. All of this success, however, does not mean those bad decisions have not been made, especially when it comes to the tumultuous nature of the NFL draft.
Like all the franchises in the NFL, the Chiefs have had their fair share of wonderful draft picks. Will Shields in the third round of the 1993 draft, Bobby Bell in the seventh round of the 1963 draft. They have also, however, had plenty of terrible picks. Some will be included in this list, some will not be classed bad enough to make the top five.
Whatever the case, with the 2016 NFL draft looming, it is fair to say that evaluating a player out of college, hoping he drops to you and then drafting him and molding him into an NFL player is not a task to be envied. If there’s one thing this list illustrates, it is the difficulty in drafting quality players each year.
