Where do the teams stand after two weeks of the 2016 MLB Season?

Welcome back to the MLB Power Rankings! We’ve made it through the first two weeks of the season. Every team has finally had their home opener and we can get into the routine of the season with games well mainly at night.

We saw some divisional rivals get to play one another for the first or second time this season. We saw some outstanding pitching performances, including a possible new stud pitcher in the city of brotherly love.

So let’s dive right in to the week three edition of the MLB power rankings.

. Previous: . Atlanta Braves. 30. team. 17. They fell to 0-9, then really took it to the Marlins this weekend, winning three in a row against them. Nick Markakis is off to a great start though the Hector Olivera domestic violence charges are disturbing.

Previous: . Minnesota Twins. 29. team. 2. Twins went to 0-9, and then like the Braves, won three straight. Joe Mauer looks like the Mauer of old and they are finally giving some playing time to Oswaldo Arcia..

Previous: . San Diego Padres. 28. team. 127. The Padres seem to be able to hit in Colorado and nowhere else really. Melvin Upton Jr. is off to a solid start and Ryan Buchter looks like a nice find for the bullpen..

76. Rough week for the Brewers, losing two out of three to the Cardinals and Pirates on the road, but that’s kind of to be expected. Tyler Thornburg’s implosion this week was not.. . Previous: . Milwaukee Brewers. 27. team

26. team. 82. The Marlins started off well, pounding Steven Matz in New York and taking two out of three from the Mets, but getting swept by the Braves at home is not what you want. How fun is Jose Fernandez vs Noah Syndergaard going to be for the next few years?. . Previous: . Miami Marlins

Cincinnati Reds. 25. team. 61. Rough week for the Reds. Only one win and the bullpen continues to struggle. Brandon Finnegan looks like a keeper in that rotation, after a great performance against the Cubs.. . Previous:

. Previous: . Colorado Rockies. 24. team. 108. Same ol story for the Rockies.  A nice offensive week as they took series against the Giants and Cubs. Good to see Tyler Chatwood healthy. Two out of three starts this season, he’s pitched well.

Previous: . Arizona Diamondbacks. 23. team. 8. A even week for the Diamondbacks, losing a series to LA but beating San Diego. Paul Goldschmidt won’t hit .205 all year, but Jean Segura and Yasmani Tomas aren’t going to hit this way forever..

team. 102. Swept in Minnesota. Mike Trout and Albert Pujols just aren’t hitting. The bullpen is struggling. At least Nick Tropeano is off to a good start on the hill.. . Previous: . Los Angeles Angels. 22

The Phillies can really pitch. Aaron Nola, Jarrod Eickhoff and especially Vincent Velasquez look like they can be a huge part of the Phillies moving forward. It may take a little time, but the talent is coming.. . Previous: . Philadelphia Phillies. 21. team. 6

Seattle Mariners. 19. team. 62. Robinson Cano cooled down, and they haven’t hit a ton, but they are getting important hits when they need it like Dae-Ho Lee’s walkoff homer. Felix Hernandez isn’t throwing as hard, but is still getting outs. He just needs to cut the walks down.. . Previous:

17. team. 96. Rough start to week, but taking two out of three from the defending champs helps. They face a tough east coast trip over the next week and a half facing the Yankees, Blue Jays and Tigers.. . Previous: . Oakland Athletics

16. team. 43. It was encouraging to see Masahiro Tanaka go seven innings, but this team has been anemic with runners in scoring position and their starters aren’t going deep in games. The bullpen has been solid, and striking hitters out left and right, but they are going to get burnt out.. . Previous: . New York Yankees

Even week for the Red Sox too, but not without controversy. Pablo Sandoval is “injured”. Rusney Castillo is back in the minors. Christian Vazquez is back behind the plate and that is going to make them a better team.. . Previous: . Boston Red Sox. 15. team. 14

14. team. 128. A nice 4-2 week has the Sox atop the AL Central. Chris Sale was absolutely filthy in his start vs the Rays. Their pitching as a whole looks very strong and if their hitting can get going, they might continue to be in it this season.. . Previous: . Chicago White Sox

135. Tough start to the home calendar facing the Tigers and Royals. No shame in going 3-4 during that stretch. The fact that Lance McCullers is still out and Ken Giles is really struggling isn’t a good sign, but it’s still early.. . Previous: . Houston Astros. 13. team

team. 63. The Tigers look like a team that’s going to be in it all year long. They have a deep and talented lineup even though Justin Upton hasn’t got it going yet and James McCann will miss some time. Jordan Zimmermann looks like a great pickup, while Mike Pelfrey does not yet.. . Previous: . Detroit Tigers. 12

team. 11. The Orioles are starting to resemble their teams that were in the playoffs or in contention recently. Manny Machado is on a different level. They have a good amount of depth on the roster. It’s just a matter if the pitching can hold up.. . Previous: . Baltimore Orioles. 11

. Previous: . Toronto Blue Jays. 10. team. 39. Aaron Sanchez looks like the real deal in the rotation, but they need more out of Troy Tulowitzki. Their series in Baltimore Tues-Thurs should be a good barometer for this club.

32. Status quo for the Redbirds after they took care of business against the Reds and Brewers. Good test vs the Cubs this week. Should there be concern about Adam Wainwright?. . Previous: . St.Louis Cardinals. 9. team

Previous: . Pittsburgh Pirates. 8. team. 4. Lost three to the Tigers but came back against the Brewers. Jung Ho Kang is starting his rehab assignment which will make this club that much deeper. The Pirates head west, but won’t face the Dodgers or Giants. It’ll be a good opportunity to earn some wins..

90. The Nationals are taking advantage of their schedule and will continue to do so this week vs the Marlins and Twins. They are taking care of business and have teh best record in baseball. Bryce Harper has taken his game to another level so far this year.. . Previous: . Washington Nationals. 7. team

team. 126. Solid 4-2 week for the Rangers. Yu Darvish is continuing his rehab. Nomar Mazarra is showing why he’s a top 10 prospect. Prince Fielder hasn’t gotten it going yet, but you have to figure he will.. . Previous: . Texas Rangers. 6

San Francisco Giants. 5. team. 31. Rough 2-4 week for the Giants vs the Rockies and Dodgers and losing Sergio Romo in the bullpen doesn’t help. Buster Posey had a couple of days missed and that doesn’t help either. They are still a solid team with the D’Backs and Marlins coming to town.. . Previous:

3. Panic city in New York as Terry Collins was using Jeurys Familia and the bullpen like it’s the playoffs. Jacob deGrom is out and Matt Harvey looks like he’s trying to find himself. It seems like Yoenis Cespedes and Michael Conforto are getting it going offensively.. . Previous: . New York Mets. 4. team

Previous: . Los Angeles Dodgers. 3. team. 71. Andrew Freidman has done a great job of putting together depth all over the place. They are still banged up and Howie Kendrick in left field isn’t ideal, but it’s working..

Previous: . Chicago Cubs. 2. team. 9. The Cubs haven’t really hit yet, but they are still winning games and matched the Nationals at nine wins over the season’s first two weeks. Jake Arrieta hasn’t missed a beat off last season. Imagine when they get the sticks going?.

. Previous: . Kansas City Royals. 1. team. 7. Royals have an interesting week coming up vs the Orioles and Tigers at home. They are still 8-4 and tied for first in the AL Central. I’d be concerned about Joakim Soria, but Lorenzo Cain, Alex Gordon and Mike Moustakas will get it going soon enough.
